How EAiSER Ai turns a photo into a repair
A resident photographs a pothole. Thirty seconds later it is classified, routed and tracked. Here is what happens in between.
Most civic reporting still runs on a phone call and a spreadsheet. A resident notices a broken streetlight, finds a number, waits on hold, describes a location from memory, and hears nothing again. The issue may get fixed. The person who reported it rarely finds out.
EAiSER Ai was built to collapse that gap. The whole interaction is a photograph and under thirty seconds of a resident's time, and the work that used to sit in the gap is done by the platform.
Step one: the photograph
A resident opens EAiSER and photographs what they can see — a pothole, a downed sign, a light that has been out for a week. There is no form to classify the problem, because classifying it is not the resident's job. They are not expected to know which department owns a drainage grate, or what a municipality calls that category internally.
Step two: the classification
The platform reads the image and identifies what it is looking at, together with where it was taken. That combination — what and where — is what turns a photograph into something a city can act on. A pothole on a state route and a pothole on a residential street are the same object and two different work orders.
This is where a specialized model earns its place. A general-purpose vision model can tell you there is damaged asphalt in the frame. It cannot tell you which of a particular city's maintenance categories that falls under, because that is local knowledge, not world knowledge.
Step three: the routing
The classified report goes to the department that actually handles it, without a human triaging the queue first. That single step removes the most common failure in civic reporting: a correct report that sits in the wrong inbox.
And then the part everyone forgets
The resident can track it. They can see that the report was received, that it was routed, and that it was resolved. This sounds like a small feature and it is the reason people report a second time.
Civic reporting has a participation problem more than a technology problem. People stop reporting when reporting feels like shouting into a void. Closing the loop is what keeps the pipeline of reports alive, and a city with live reports has a maintenance map it could not otherwise afford to build.
The hard part was never taking the photograph. It was everything that happened after it.
Free for residents
EAiSER is free for residents to report and track issues. Cities and government agencies pay for the platform side. That split is deliberate: charging the person reporting a broken streetlight would defeat the purpose of building it.
